Open House Radio is a weekly Radio show for all the Fans of Disco and Dance Music from the 70′s and 80′s. The name is derived from dances in the 70s here in Miami where all were invited thus the term ” Open House”

The format of this program is the unique blend of Classic Ballads and the Disco, Italo and HiNRG sounds of the 70′s and early 80′s. The true roots of today’s dance music, preserved in these informative and entertaining and often Historical programs, produced by two of Miami’s most recognizable Radio and nightclub talents.

Open House Radio is a unique musical experience which today finds itself at a loss for venues in which to find this rare blend of styles. We created this Radio Program with you in mind. In effort to preserve and archive the history and music of this short period.

This is Cubana’s first Blog. I am so excited friends to share with you awesome news. Cubanarama has been on the air nearly 2 years and in that time we have made amazing friends with Musicians, Film Producers, Book Authors, Actors, Painters, and many other Artists and even Loyal Fans around the globe.

Our Community knows we are here for the long haul to help promote Art, Culture and Tourism. We are extending our abilities and dreams even further by reaching out to promote Music Festivals around the world. Starting with a Music Festival that will be held in the gorgeous Island of Curacao this December 3, 4 and 5. I am working directly with the promoter, organizer and artists who are involved in bringing the Festival to the Island.

The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino is the place where you will find us this December. Future plans include bringing talent to the Island from all over the USA and other Countries. Stay tune to more news coming next week about the travel package and how you can join us in the beautiful Island Curacao.

Mantrap continue the Open House tradition with an ongoing series of Open House events, as well as appearances in select clubs throughout the Greater Miami and surrounding areas. MANTRAP PLAYED AT LOCAL ROCK DANCES CALLED BACK THEN “OPEN HOUSES” AND DREW VERY LARGE CROWDS. MANTRAP ALSO PERFORMED AT SWEET FIFTEEN PARTIES, SCHOOL DANCES AND PROMS. IN 1975 MANTRAP RECORDED AND RELEASED THEIR FIRST ALBUM SIMPLY TITLED “MANTRAP” THE ALBUM WAS MOSTLY ROCK MUSIC WHICH WAS THE POPULAR STYLE AT THE TIME. THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS MANTRAP RELEASED IT’S SECOND ALBUM IN 1977 TITLED “DISCO FANTASY” DISCO MUSIC WAS SWEEPING THE NATION AND MANTRAP SWITCHED STYLES TO PLEASE THEIR FANS. DISCO MUSIC WAS FABULOUS FOR MANTRAP. IT TOOK THEM TO NEW HEIGHTS AND MADE THEM MORE POPULAR THAN OTHER LOCAL BANDS. MANY MUSICIANS HAVE PLAYED FOR MANTRAP THROUGH THE YEARS AND THEY WERE ALL SPECIAL TO THE BAND AND IT’S SUCCESS. IN 2008 MANTRAP RELEASED THREE SONGS FROM THE UPCOMING NEW CD TITLED “LOST MEMORIES” WHICH CONTINUES TO BE A HUGE SUCCESS ON YOUTUBE. MORE SONGS WILL BE RELEASED SOON AND THE CD WILL BECOME AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE TO THE PUBLIC.

I love Miami, Ocean Drive, Art Deco buildings. I love Latin Salsa, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Conga. And the food…. I love the food! The only thing missing in our lives is Tony Mendoza’s Art. When you experience the whimsical, humorous and vibrant colors of the vignettes in Miami’s Latin City Scape you will want to bring Miami and the Latin flavors home!

Born in New York City to Cuban parents, Mendoza grew up in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami where you can see the impact the Cuban influence has in his art. You can almost hear the sounds of the Rumba music coming out of the buildings, the hustle and bustle of every day life. You can hear the children’s laughter and smell the tobacco and cuban cafe! Come along for sneak peek into this amazing Artist’s work.
