THIS SHOW WILL BE RE-RECORDED

Minnesota based Chef & Musician. Owner of Deli By The Bay

Come and  experience the food and the music….

Duncan Lee

Duncan has a long career as a celebrated chef. He started as a bus boy at Soul Queen Restaurant in Chicago. By the age of 18, he had worked his way up to chef. After moving to Minnesota at 26, Duncan perfected his culinary skills at popular locations such as the Sheraton, Normandy Inn, Embassy Suites, Lord Fletchers, the Marquette, the Marriott, and the Millennium. Most recently, he has been the head chef for Excelsior Bay Charters right here in Excelsior, MN.

In addition to his talent for preparing delicious food, Duncan is also a gifted singer/songwriter.

His business partner: Chuck Gross

Chuck has been a respected member of the Excelsior business community for many years. Fresh out of college in 1962, Chuck worked for a wholesale office product company for 17 years before deciding to strike out on his own. He opened and managed Gross Office Supply for 13 years before he settled into the charter boat business.

Fast forward 20 years to the well known Excelsior Bay Charters, which continues to provide customers with catered private cruises on Lake Minnetonka. This business has proven so successful, that Excelsior Bay Charters has extended their catering off the boat and into other venues. The popularity of their menu inspired Chuck and Duncan to create Deli By The Bay, where they can continue to serve their customers delicious food with the utmost care and personal attention.

Co Host: Monica Rosales, Executive Director of DOCMIAMI.

Filmmaker Sheldon Schiffer, befriends several Havaneros whose relationship with the wall provides meaning and mental subsistence in very different ways. With a 16mm Arriflex camera of a nostalgic vintage, Schiffer invites his subjects to compose a portrait of their most meaningful view on the Malecon – one that symbolizes their station in life, both personally and politically. Each of his subjects, a poet-intellectual, a musician, two prostitutes, an aging historian, and three young students with time on their hands, each connect their personal ambitions and attitudes toward Cuba as they collaborate with the filmmaker to create a cinematic ‘portrait’ of the seawall, and ultimately one of themselves.

My co host: Monica Rosales of DocMiami the mover and shaker of DocMiami.og and the producers of Ghost Players.

In 1988, a very amazing thing happened in the middle of the United States.  A Hollywood film company made the decision to use a small cornfield in Dubuque County in the state of Iowa, near Dyersville, to make a movie that is inspirational, entertaining and philosophical. Since the movie “Field of Dreams” has been produced, it has achieved international fame.  Many organizations, companies and communities have used the term “build it and they will come” to provide impetus for major projects to move forward.  The state of Iowa has used the small dialogue, which refers to Iowa as “Heaven” in many of its promotions, recalling the answer to “Is this Heaven?” which states, “No, this is Iowa.”  A group of dedicated individuals carried the positive message and entertainment values around the world to tour, perform and spread a unique form of ambassadorship in various places in Europe, Asia and America.  The “Ghost Players” represent the players in the Field of Dreams and have shared the joy engendered by the movie to delight thousands of people.  American military bases have been the destinations for Ghost Player tours.  United States soldiers, their spouses and children and support people came to the performances by the Ghost Players.  The Ghost Players have been featured in Stars and Stripes, Newsweek, Baseball Weekly, ESPN and the major networks.  In the “Field of Dreams” movie, the character played by James Earl Jones says, “This field, this game, is a part of our past.  It reminds us of all that was once good, and it could be good again.”  Mr. Jones and the Ghost Players disappeared into the corn.  I know what happened to them.  I have it on tape.

WARS AND STRIPES with STEVE PICHAN 11/6/2011

On Friday, January 28, 2010, thanks to Director Keith Famie, three of my songs from the “Wars and Stripes” CD were chosen for use in his documentary “Our Vietnan Generation”.  The premiere featured at the Fox Theatre in Detroit and honored Vietnam Veterans for their service.  Songs used for the feature; “We shall never forget” (theme song), “Mikie’s Minutes” (tribute to Sgt. Michael Ingram) and “Look Away” (a music video reflection of the treatment of our Vietnam Vets upon their return to the States).  I owe a debt of gratitude to Keith for including me in his extraordinary and important work! In October, 2010, Director Agustin Blazquez, chose “You don’t know Che” for his documentary, “Che; the other side of an icon” that premiered in Miami, Florida.  A music video was produced as well intended to expose the true Che Guevara, right hand man and executioner for Fidel Castro.  Past songs and CD’s are story based, American folk and rock genres and include “Ironman” (tribute to John LaPointe, an ironworker who volunteered his time to tear down the steel structures of the Twin Towers after the 9/11 attacks) and “Leavin’ Detroit” (a reflection on tough times and lost jobs in the Detroit auto industry).
