Is Charles Manson crazy or evil? No one else can recount the events and explain the family as Diana Montane can. Montane is a journalist and published author. She was an Arts & Entertainment writer, as well as art, theatre and film critic, for Miami’s first newspaper, The Miami News, until the demise of that publication. Shortly therafter, she was Entertainment Editor and art, theatre and film critic of EXITO, a weekly published by The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and The Chicago Tribune. She has contributed numerous articles and cover stories for: The Miami Herald, The Los Angeles Times, The Palm Beach Post, The New Times, Latina Magazine, and others.

Manson and four others — Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles “Tex” Watson and Leslie Van Houten — were convicted of murder and other charges in connection with a two-night rampage that left pregnant actress Sharon Tate and seven others dead. Manson and the four “family” members’ death sentences were overturned during the 1970s, when the death penalty laws were ruled unconsitutional. He is quietly serving out his life sentence. Although he once frequently gave bombastic rants on national television, he hasn’t granted a media interview in years. Manson receives a lot of mail, and many requests from people who want to visit him, Johnson said. He still occasionally sees a few people.

The Delfonics were one of the first groups to sing in the sleek, soulful style that became popularized (thanks to producer Thom Bell) as the “Philadelphia sound.”  A vocal trio made up of brothers William and Wilbert Hart and high school friend Randy Cain, the Delfonics roots go back to doo wop singing at school dances in the early 60′s.  Right from the start this was a perfect match as the band released the classic “La La Means I Love You” in 1968, a song that began a string of hits lasting into the mid-70′s.
The hits slowed for the Delfonics in the mid-’70s, and in 1971 Randy Cain quit the band and was replaced by Major Harris.  A  few more minor hits followed but Harris left the band for a solo career in 1975, effectively finishing the Delfonics. In the late ’90s, the group played a significant musical role in Quentin Tarantino’s film Jackie Brown. Tarantino, a borderline obsessive fan of 70′s pop culture, used “La La Means I Love You,” and their best single, “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time),” as a way of underscoring the relationship between actors Pam Grier and Robert Forster.  In the film, Forster’s character is so struck by the music (and Grier), he goes out and buys the Delfonics Greatest Hits cassette the following day.  AND YOU MIGHT ASK: “WHERE ARE THEY NOW?   Wil Hart formerly of the Delfonics or Wil Hart an Original Delfonic, billed this way for legal reasons has personally produced, written and  sang on each and every hit record ever released by the Delfonics.  His live shows are the best Delfonics shows available!  Wilbert Hart is the founder of  “In the Game Entertainment and Production” where he continues to record, write and produce artist from all styles of music.

Cecilia Rodriguez Milanes is a professor of Latino/a literature and writing at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.  Professor Rodriguez Milanes recently visited Cuba, an Island that offers 5 star world class resorts, hires foreign Chefs from Canada, France and Italy to ensure that the meals will delight the almost 2 million yearly visitors, magnificent beaches, dancing, music, and historic views while their citizens live under strenuous laws that subordinate freedom of speech, freedom of the press. Cuba where government maintains complete control over all forms of mass media, including newspapers, radio and television, an Island where criticism of national leaders can lead to imprisonment and even death. There has always been a mystery surrounding this Caribbean Island and Cecilia will tell us stories as only she can about family, education , living conditions, food prices, access to electricity, water, gas, architecture, changes, progress, Etc.

If you have always wondered about Cuba and would like to know more about  the Island from someone who has been there recently or if you are curious about the present Cuba, this is the show for you. Open Mic the last half hour, call with your questions.

Cecilia’s is a accomplished writer as well, her short fiction has been anthologized in Iguana Dreams: New Latino Fiction. Bryan Pezzone is the consummate cross-over pianist of his generation. He excels in classical, contemporary, jazz, and experimental genres and is well known for his versatility and virtuosity as a recording and performing artist, improviser and composer. He performs with many major symphony orchestra associations, tours widely with the jazz group Free Flight, and is known in the Los Angeles area as a primary free-lance pianist for film and television soundtrack recording, contemporary music premieres, and chamber music. Bryan is the pianist on most all of the cartoons released by Warner Brothers and Disney, he was the principal pianist with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra from its inception in 1991 through 1999, and received a rare on-screen credit for his performance on the soundtrack of “The Game” starring Michael Douglas. His workshops on his comprehensive approach to improvisation are frequently requested and he is a consulting editor for the well-known publication “Piano and Keyboard.” As a soloist, Bryan has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pasadena Pops, Santa Monica Symphony, Santa Clarita Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Los Angele’s Philharmonic, United States International University Orchestra, U.C. Irvine Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Philharmonic and the Pacific Symphony.

There is so much more to say about this amazing composer & human being but space here is limited so you have to come to the show and listen to his heartfelt story and his music. One night just might change your life.

Jana Mashonee, singer/songwriter, GRAMMY nominee and eight time NAMMY winner will appear at Carnegie Hall on December 16, in the New World Talent concert presented by the Brokers from Stribling to benefit City Harvest, the New York City organization which rescues unused food from restaurants and distributes it to the hungry.

During the event, the first international Artist to Artist Award will be presented to Shen Wei, the Chinese choreographer renowned for his direction and choreography of the Opening Ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics.

The concert, featuring Ms. Mashonee will also include performances by Soprano Sarah Viola, pianists Julian Gargiulo, Maria Yefimova and Alex Salzman, , percussionist Rossen Nedelchev and dancer Alexandra Sawyier.

Jana Mashonee is a two time GRAMMY nominee for her “America Indian Story” CD and has won eight Native American Music Awards in every major category including Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and most recently Song of the Year for the single from her R&B album New Moon Born “A Change is Gonna Come.” Additionally, her videos have won numerous awards at film festivals all over the US and abroad.

Duncan Lee

Duncan has a long career as a celebrated chef. He started as a bus boy at Soul Queen Restaurant in Chicago. By the age of 18, he had worked his way up to chef. After moving to Minnesota at 26, Duncan perfected his culinary skills at popular locations such as the Sheraton, Normandy Inn, Embassy Suites, Lord Fletchers, the Marquette, the Marriott, and the Millennium. Most recently, he has been the head chef for Excelsior Bay Charters right here in Excelsior, MN.

In addition to his talent for preparing delicious food, Duncan is also a gifted singer/songwriter.

His business partner: Chuck Gross

Chuck has been a respected member of the Excelsior business community for many years. Fresh out of college in 1962, Chuck worked for a wholesale office product company for 17 years before deciding to strike out on his own. He opened and managed Gross Office Supply for 13 years before he settled into the charter boat business.

Fast forward 20 years to the well known Excelsior Bay Charters, which continues to provide customers with catered private cruises on Lake Minnetonka. This business has proven so successful, that Excelsior Bay Charters has extended their catering off the boat and into other venues. The popularity of their menu inspired Chuck and Duncan to create Deli By The Bay, where they can continue to serve their customers delicious food with the utmost care and personal attention.

Filmmaker Sheldon Schiffer, befriends several Havaneros whose relationship with the wall provides meaning and mental subsistence in very different ways. With a 16mm Arriflex camera of a nostalgic vintage, Schiffer invites his subjects to compose a portrait of their most meaningful view on the Malecon – one that symbolizes their station in life, both personally and politically. Each of his subjects, a poet-intellectual, a musician, two prostitutes, an aging historian, and three young students with time on their hands, each connect their personal ambitions and attitudes toward Cuba as they collaborate with the filmmaker to create a cinematic ‘portrait’ of the seawall, and ultimately one of themselves.

Since then his musical career has taken many eclectic twists and turns and given him the opportunity to play in such prestigious and diverse settings as a 3-year stint as a French Horn player with the Symphonic Orchestra of Carabobo, Venezuela to shows, television appearances and recordings with numerous celebrities of the American mainstream and Latin music world such as Marion Meadows, Ricardo Montaner, Carlos Vives, Francisco Cespedes, Laura Pausini, Silvio Rodriguez, Brenda K Star, Ed Thigpen,  Albita Rodriguez, Diango, Alejandra Guzman, Malena Burke,  Ilan Chester, Meme Solis, Paty Manterola, Yolandita Monge, Charlie Zaa & Chayanne among others.
His television appearances have included the Latin Grammys, Sabado Gigante, Despierta America, Escandalo TV and Don Francisco Presenta to name a few and his touring credits have taken him to over a hundred cities in the USA, Sweden, Indonesia, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

Roberto continues to compose and record and also performs for audiences of more than 4000 people every single week playing keyboards and horns in the prestigious impersonator stage show, ‘Legends In Concert’ in Harrah’s Casino on the world-famous Las Vegas strip.

Roberto’s latest project, his first solo album, Between Two Worlds, is a brilliantly written, performed and produced collection of original tunes that combines Roberto’s visionary interpretations of the best of smooth jazz and Latin influences to create sound that is new and original and that showcases Roberto’s impeccable musicality, original vision and promises to be a huge success.
